Dial-Up Troubleshooting

Generally, dial-up access to the Internet should function correctly as long as the following items are verified and functioning correctly.
  1. Verify the computer has a 56K Modem.

  2. Make sure the phone jack that the computer is connected to has a dial tone If dial tone is received when a telephone is plugged into the jack that currently has a telephone cable going to the computer, you should be ready to establish a connection.

  3. Correct username and password. If you don't remember you current username and password, contact our office and we will provide that information.

  4. Use the correct phone number. When creating your connection for dial-up the following phone numbers should be used (with no "912" prefix or any dashes [-] or periods [.])

    • Effingham County: 7729910
